I had the opportunity recently to take a night photography course with Christina Craft Photography (formerly FunkyTown Photography). Christina is an award-winning wedding photographer based out of Victoria & Costa Rica. I've taken a workshop with her before, and she also photographed my family last fall, so I know first-hand that she is truly a master at her "craft".
I watched a CreativeLive with Brett Florens a while back, and since then I've been wanting to get out and experiment more with night photography. I saw that Christina was offering night photography workshops last year but I was busy being a new mom, so when I saw that she was hosting another round of workshops this spring, I signed up.
Christina is an excellent teacher, (in fact used to teach at the Western Academy of Photography). She showed us how to use video lights and many readily-available objects to enhance the images we make with our cameras. She brought in several models for us to experiment with using the techniques she was teaching us. It was fun AND informative. I would highly recommend her workshops to anyone interested in learning some new techniques to jazz up their photography.
Below are a few of my favourite images from the workshop.
